At Connected Data London 2024, a major event in the graph database industry, Ultipa has made waves with its innovative ideas, reshaping how the world views AI infrastructure. The event, held annually to showcase cutting-edge advancements in data and database technologies, provided the perfect platform for Ultipa to demonstrate its forward-thinking approach.

Ultipa’s founder and CEO, Ricky Sun, took centre stage during the conference with a thought-provoking presentation titled “Graph XAI: Rethinking AI Infrastructure Costs with GPU and CPU”. In his speech, Sun tackled the pressing issue of AI infrastructure costs, particularly in the context of the global economic slowdown. As AI continues to dominate industries worldwide, Sun proposed a new direction for the sector, suggesting that it is possible to achieve better performance and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) without relying entirely on expensive GPUs.

In a market increasingly dominated by GPU-based solutions, Sun argued for a more balanced approach that integrates GPUs with CPUs and other low-cost, environmentally friendly technologies such as FPGA and ASICs. This approach not only aims to meet the high-performance demands of AI but also takes into account sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Sun’s vision is for a more eco-conscious and cost-efficient AI infrastructure that can support the growing demand for data processing power while reducing carbon footprints.

Ultipa’s push for innovation extends beyond AI infrastructure. The company also garnered attention at Connected Data London for its involvement in the development of the Graph Query Language (GQL). In April 2024, the ISO/IEC released the first official version of GQL, a major milestone for the graph database community. Ultipa, a key player in this development, announced that its latest version of Powerhouse (v5.0) would support GQL, further solidifying its position at the forefront of graph database technology.

This alignment with international standards demonstrates Ultipa’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing technological landscape. As the company continues to innovate, it has also been recognised on the global stage, securing a spot on the DataTech50 2024 list, an accolade that underscores its leadership in the field of graph databases.

The impressive display of technical prowess at Connected Data London 2024 highlights Ultipa’s role in driving the industry forward. Its emphasis on sustainable and cost-efficient AI solutions, along with its integration of GQL, demonstrates the company’s dedication to the future of data technologies. Ultipa’s contributions are expected to inspire further advancements and collaboration within the global graph database and AI sectors, ushering in new possibilities for the digital transformation of industries worldwide.
