Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Papiransky has released her latest single, “Fine Print,” featuring BRIT and Ivor Novello Award-winning artist KT Tunstall. The track, which is a delicate and reflective duet, marks a significant moment in Papiransky’s career, as she collaborates with her long-time musical hero. Released on 13 September, “Fine Print” is the third single from her forthcoming album, Friday’s Daughter, following the success of earlier singles “Pencil Me In” and “Isabella.”

“Fine Print” explores the complexities of relationships, with Papiransky’s and Tunstall’s voices intertwining in harmony. The song, co-written by Papiransky and Boo Hewerdine, blends introspective lyrics with a melodic arrangement, highlighting the detailed emotions that emerge within personal connections.

Speaking about the collaboration, Papiransky expressed her disbelief at the opportunity to work with one of her idols. “I still can’t believe my musical idol is singing with me on one of my own songs! I am so grateful to KT – it’s such a dream come true, a real ‘pinch-me’ moment!” she said. “Coincidentally, I was in KT’s hometown of St. Andrews when her vocal mix was sent through. It was meant to be!”

Papiransky, originally from Keith in the north-east of Scotland, has built a career grounded in her deep love for music. Since the release of her debut album Read Me Write in 2019, she has become a prominent name in the UK’s folk music scene. A BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year finalist, Papiransky is known for her multi-instrumental talents and classically trained background, which she draws upon to create a unique blend of folk and pop music.

Her career has seen her perform at major festivals including HebCelt, Belladrum, the Edinburgh Fringe, and the Cambridge Folk Festival. She has also headlined Glasgow’s King Tut’s and supported touring artists such as KT Tunstall, Jill Jackson, Blue Rose Code, and Cammy Barnes.

“Amy’s deep understanding and passion for music shines out in her solo work, showcasing intelligent yet accessible pop mastery,” commented PRS for Music, praising her ability to create compelling and relatable music.

While continuing to work as a high school music teacher in Glasgow, Papiransky has spent the past year writing and recording her second album, Friday’s Daughter, due for release on 18 October. The album is a collection of folk songs and ballads, touching on themes of love, loss, resilience, and strength. It has been produced by Damien O’Kane, known for his work with Kate Rusby, and was recorded at Get Real Audio in Bath.

In addition to her duet with Tunstall, the album features several exciting guest appearances. Glastonbury Emerging Talent winner Lewis McLaughlin joins her on the romantic ballad “Comfort In Grey,” while Grammy Award winner Ron Block, best known for his work with Alison Krauss, lends his banjo talents. The album also includes contributions from musicians Anthony Davis, Josh Clark, Lyle Watt, Charlotte Printer, and Graham Rorie.

Reflecting on the album’s creation, Papiransky described it as the best musical experience of her career. “Working alongside incredible musicians who I can also call great friends means the world to me. I am so proud of this album and can’t wait for people to hear it and connect with the relatable themes that have been explored.”
