GenAI Leads AWS Ecosystem Strategy for UK Providers

According to a recent report by Information Services Group (ISG), a leading global technology research and advisory firm, Generative AI (GenAI) is becoming a central focus in the strategic plans of AWS ecosystem providers in the UK. The 2024 ISG Provider Lens™ AWS Ecosystem Partners report highlights how these providers are responding to client demands for data modernisation, green financial operations (FinOps), and hybrid and multicloud architectures.

The report indicates that AWS ecosystem providers are increasingly integrating GenAI into various offerings, ranging from professional services to data analytics. As businesses seek to improve productivity, enhance customer and employee experiences, and drive revenue growth, providers are pioneering innovative GenAI use cases to meet these demands.

“AWS provides an array of AI-powered services and tools to help enterprises and technology service providers advance their GenAI business goals,” said Ant Drake, ISG partner for North Europe. He emphasised that AWS providers are leveraging these tools to offer data modernisation services that help enterprises structure and manage their data more effectively.

With rising hyperscaler cloud costs becoming a significant concern for UK enterprises, many providers are introducing FinOps services that offer detailed insights into cloud consumption, spending, and capacity for chargebacks. Some providers are also implementing sustainable FinOps as a service, which integrates carbon impact considerations into the financial operations framework and offers best-practice recommendations for environmentally friendly cloud usage.

The increasing prevalence of hybrid and multicloud enterprise architectures has prompted businesses to tailor their workloads according to the strengths of different cloud platforms. Providers are noticing a growing demand for cloud repatriation services, assisting enterprises in migrating workloads to private clouds for reasons related to cost control, regulatory compliance, or operational governance.

“While lift-and-shift cloud migrations are still common, they are often perceived as costly due to their potential for reduced flexibility and higher long-term expenses,” noted Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader at ISG Provider Lens Research. He added that AWS ecosystem providers play a crucial role in helping businesses navigate their current IT infrastructures and devise the optimal hybrid or multicloud strategies.

The report also identifies a rising enterprise interest in migrating from VMware to AWS cloud, driven by concerns over future licensing costs following Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware, along with AWS incentives aimed at facilitating these migrations. Numerous providers are actively offering support for such transitions, whether through native AWS migrations or containerisation solutions.

For additional insights on the cloud challenges facing UK enterprises—particularly regarding regulatory compliance and the adoption of new technologies—ISG has provided guidance in its report.

The 2024 ISG Provider Lens™ AWS Ecosystem Partners report evaluates the capabilities of 36 providers across four quadrants: AWS Professional Services, AWS Managed Services, AWS Data Analytics, AI and ML, and AWS SAP Workloads.

Prominent industry players like Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, DXC Technology, TCS, and Tech Mahindra have been recognised as leaders in all four quadrants. Other notable mentions include Eviden (Atos Group), HCLTech, Version 1, and Wipro, each leading in three quadrants, while GFT, Hexaware, and Quantiphi are acknowledged as leaders in one quadrant.

In the customer experience domain, Persistent Systems has been named the global ISG CX Star Performer for 2024 among AWS ecosystem providers, receiving the highest satisfaction scores in ISG’s Voice of the Customer survey, a key recognition in the technology and business services industry.

Customized versions of the report are available through DXC Technologies and Version1, with the full report accessible to subscribers or for one-time purchase on ISG’s webpage..
