A Birmingham law firm has successfully raised £3,500 for The Buddy Bag Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, through a special fundraising quiz and networking event.

The event, organised by mfg Solicitors, took place at The Stable in John Bright Street, attracting 25 teams from various local businesses. Participants enjoyed a lively evening filled with trivia, camaraderie, and the opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause.

Chris Piggott, a partner at mfg Solicitors, expressed his delight at the turnout and the generous contributions from the Birmingham business community. “We were thrilled to see so many teams come along for a fun night of networking and, of course, to raise funds for a charity that does so much for young people and families in and around Birmingham,” he said. “The everyday essentials they provide, such as toiletries and pyjamas, really make a significant difference for children in crisis.”

The Buddy Bag Foundation, founded in 2014 by Karen Williams OBE, provides essential items to children entering emergency care after fleeing violent home situations. The charity aims to support these children during a traumatic time, offering them comfort and basic necessities.

Williams highlighted the importance of community support in sustaining the charity’s mission. “We are extremely grateful to Chris and the team at mfg Solicitors for their support this year. The firm is genuinely interested in our operations and the vital fundraising we undertake,” she said. “It was a great and fun event, but also very humbling to see so many people eager to donate.”

The funds raised during the quiz will go directly towards providing Buddy Bags, which contain essential items for children in need. This initiative helps ease the transition for young people entering care, offering them comfort and dignity during a challenging time in their lives.

Piggott extended his gratitude to the local businesses that donated prizes for the raffle, which further enhanced the evening’s fundraising efforts. “The support from the Birmingham business community has been exceptional,” he remarked. “From the outstanding raffle prizes to the many businesses that attended, the generosity displayed was truly heartening.”

The Buddy Bag Foundation aims to address the increasing number of children entering emergency care as a result of domestic violence. With each Buddy Bag they provide, the charity hopes to alleviate some of the distress these children face by offering them essential items that can make a significant impact on their well-being.
